At the indicated time we'll start this free tour of Santa Cruz de La Palma at the crossroads between Calle Anselmo Pérez de Brito and Plaza Vandale. Are you ready to get to know the city?
Firstly, we'll see the monument dedicated to the musicians of The Divines. Then, we'll stroll down Calle Real and Calle O'Daly, dedicated to one of the most illustrious Irish natives to settle on the island.
We'll enter the El Salvador Church, where we'll find a number of flamenco tapestries from the 16th century. Once we arrive at Plaza de España, we'll admire the façade of the City Hall. Did you know that it was the first city hall to be constituted democratically and by popular suffrage?
We'll continue the tour by walking along Calle Anselmo Pérez de Brito and taking in the famous typical Canarian balconies in the historic centre of Santa Cruz. Afterwards, we'll visit the Cruz del Tercero, a monument which commemorates the conquest of the island.
The next stop will be at Plaza de la Alameda, where we'll see the Monumento al Enano. This sculpture alludes to one of La Palma's most popular celebrations. Do you know which one We'll find out! At this very spot, we'll also check out the reproduction of a galleon. It's the Barco de la Virgen, which houses the Naval Museum.
Finally, we'll stop off in front of Santa Catalina de Alejandría Castle, one of the main forts of the capital of La Palma. Then, after 2 hours together, we'll say our goodbyes and bring this tour to an end in front of the castle.
