Discover Naples' fascinating past—explore the undergrounds of the Basilica of San Lorenzo Maggiore and visit Naples Cathedral. A must-visit in Campania!
Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at your selected meeting point to take a journey truly off the beaten path in the region of Capania's capital!
We'll enter the underground and head first to Piazza Tirestre e Trneto to stroll around the city centre of Naples and admire spots such as the Teatro San Carlo, Piazza del Plebiscito or the Umberto Gallery. You won't be able to stop taking photos!
From here, we'll walk along Via Toledo until we reach Piazza Dante. From there, we'll make our way along Spaccanapoli, the main artery of the city. As we pass through iconic squares and landmarks such as Piazza del Gesù and Piazza San Domenico Maggiore, we'll go through the different eras of Naples' history, going back to the Greek period.
We'll then arrive at the Basilica of San Lorenzo Maggiore, one of the oldest churches in the city. We'll go down to its core to see the archaeological excavations that have taken space within. These include the remains of the ancient marketplace, the cryptoporticus, and other various structures dating back to the 4th century BC.
After we've gotten to know the history of the basilica, we'll leave you free time so that you can explore the surrounding area, and afterwards, we'll bring this tour to an end back at the starting point.
This tour will come to an end after 4 hours.
