Climb to the peak of Mount Vesuvius and enjoy the stunning panoramic views of the Neopolitan bay offered by the summit of this volcano.
Mount Vesuvius Day Trip
We'll pick you up from the agreed meeting point at the indicated time and hit the road to Torre del Greco, the town at the foot of Campania's most famous volcano.
From here we begin a trail by foot, which will eventually take us to the peak of the mountain. At almost 1,000 metres (3,280 feet) high, from the top you can enjoy some fantastic views of the Neopolitan bay. It was in this area of the Mediterranean where in 79 AD a famous eruption took place, devastating the towns of Pompei, Herculaneum and Stabiae.
As we descend the mountain we'll learn more about this tragic event, which came to pass in the time of the Roman empire. We'll also discover some unusual facts about this mountain, which has appeared in numerous films and TV series, making it one of the most filmed volcanoes in Europe along with another Italian one; Mount Etna.
At the end of the trek, we'll get back on the bus which will take us back to Naples, arriving after 3.5 to 4 hours.
Climbing Mount Vesuvius
The ascent to Mount Vesuvius will take place on foot up to an altitude of about 1,200 metres (3,937 feet). People with mobility problems or those who do not wish to climb to the summit of Vesuvius can wait for the group at the rest point at the bottom of the mountain.
Although it's not common, it may happen that for weather reasons the crater is closed to visits. In that case, we will stop at a viewpoint to take photos.
Language
During the bus ride, you can learn about Vesuvius from the accompanying English-speaking guide on board. However, during the climb up Mount Vesuvius on foot, you'll be accompanied by one of the park's guides. The availability of an English–speaking guide for this part of the day trip isn't guaranteed.
