Tour of Stone Town, Prison Island & Spice Farms

  • 10 reviews | 48 travellers
The activity was great. They picked us up at the hotel at 8:00 and together with the guide who spoke Spanish, we went to a spice farm where he explained many of the spices to us. The only negative point is that they "force" you to tip and buy the products they make there. Afterwards we visited Prison Island with the giant turtles (impressive), but without snorkeling there, and then Stone Town, where the guide explained the city to us in detail. The tickets are included. Recommended!

Tour Details

After picking you up from your hotel at the indicated time, we'll start our tour by discovering the endless spice farms of Zanzibar, where we'll enjoy tasting and smelling the island's native spices.

We'll also walk through small villages and plantations to learn about the work of the locals. Right before our eyes, you'll have an impressive array of crafts made of palm leaves! Next, we'll go to Stone Town, which Unesco declared a World Heritage Site. Would you like to hear why?

We'll dive into the city's streets until we reach the old slave market, which is now a church. We'll visit the Cultural Arts Center, the Peace Memorial Museum, and the House of Wonders

After passing the Old Fort of Zanzibar, we'll continue exploring Stone Town with a visit to the house where Freddie Mercury was born. Did you know it's the oldest fort on the island? We'll immerse ourselves in art by visiting the old Ithnashiri Dispensary, which now houses a cultural center. Don't forget to take photos of this unique building!

We will then head toward the port to embark and set sail toward Prison Island. Once we arrive, we'll see their oldest inhabitants: the giant tortoises. Some are more than 100 years old! Here you'll have time to relax on the coral reef beaches and swim in the island's crystal waters.

Finally, we'll return to your hotel in Zanzibar after our 10-11 hour day trip.
