The Croatian capital is noted for its great monumental heritage. Discover Zagreb's legacy on this guided tour through the historical center of the city.
Zagreb City Tour
Our guided tour of Zagreb will begin in Ban Jelačić Square, in the heart of Croatia's capital. We'll find out what role this beautiful public space played at the end of the 20th century during the conflicts that led to the disintegration of former Yugoslavia.
The first stop of our tour will be at the 13th-century Stone Gate, the entrance to Zagreb Old Town. Nearby, we'll find the city's oldest pharmacy, the Black Eagle.
Then it's on to Gornji Grad. Here, you'll see the shields that decorate the outside of St. Mark's Church, one of the most famous religious sites in the area. And just around the corner, you'll find the Lotrščak Tower, where the famous symbol of the city - the Grič cannon - is fired at noon.
Next, we'll make our way to the Zagreb Funicular. We'll take a ride on the 100-year-old funicular up to a high point in town, admiring the views along the way. Afterwards, we'll enter the tunnels built by the fascists during the Second World War before traveling further back in time to the Bloody Bridge, where we'll learn more about the conflicts that have shaped Zagreb's turbulent history.
We'll then visit the Dolac Market: a colourful marketplace where we'll learn about some of the daily customs of the local population. Opposite the market is the Zagreb Cathedral, the tallest building in Croatia! One of its two towers has a fascinating feature that you'll discover on the day of the tour.
At the end of the tour, we'll head back to Ban Jelačić Square, where we'll arrive after a total of 2 hours.
