Day Trip to Garni & Geghard
Tour Details
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at 96 Nalbandyan Street, right in the heart of Yerevan, to begin our journey exploring Armenia's historical treasures.
Our first stop is Garni, about 30 kilometers (19 miles) from Yerevan. On the way, we’ll take a short break at Charents Arch, a monument built in 1957 to honor Armenian poet Yeghishe Charents. From this vantage point, you'll take in breathtaking views of the Ararat Valley and Mount Masis, seemingly floating on the horizon.
Next, we’ll arrive at the Garni Temple, a stunning blend of Greco-Roman and Armenian architecture. This temple, perched on a triangular plateau, is the last remaining symbol of Armenia's ancient pagan culture. During a one-hour guided tour, you’ll explore the ruins of the royal palace and the baths, where a beautifully preserved mosaic awaits.
If you’re visiting between March 1 and November 15, we’ll make a stop at the Symphony of Stones, an incredible natural formation. These basalt columns, formed by cooling lava, resemble a grand stone cathedral carved by nature—an awe-inspiring geological wonder!
We’ll then dive into Armenian cuisine with a lavash-making workshop. In 40 minutes, you'll learn the ancient techniques of baking this traditional bread, followed by a tasting of your freshly baked lavash with cheese and fresh herbs. Delicious!
Afterward, we'll head to the Geghard Monastery, a remarkable 13th-century complex carved into the mountainside, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During our one-hour guided tour, you’ll explore its fascinating rock-cut churches.
Finally, we’ll return to the starting point in Yerevan, wrapping up the tour after five to six hours of unforgettable discoveries.
