Etchmiadzin, Khor Virap & Zvartnots Excursion
Etchmiadzin, Khor Virap & Zvartnots Excursion
At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Yerevan and set out to tour the stunning natural landscapes of Armenia.
Our first destination will be Khor Virap, just an hour from the capital. There we'll discover its famous monastery which, together with the image of Mount Ararat, creates one of the country's most photographed scenery. Did you know that its name means deep dungeon? We'll discover this and many other curiosities on the tour!
We'll continue our excursion in the direction of Etchmiadzin to admire its imposing cathedral. This 4th-century religious building is today the seat of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
Next, we'll visit the Zvartnots Cathedral, an ancient circular sanctuary built in the 7th century. You'll fall in love with the view from this place!
Finally, we'll take you back to your hotel in Yerevan, where we'll arrive after a total of 4 to 5 hours.
Optional wine-tasting and cooking class
Want to extend the experience? During the tour, you can also participate in a wine-tasting and cooking class for an additional fee payable on the day of the excursion.
For the wine tasting, we'll take you to the village of Taperakan for a guided tour of a traditional winery and you'll get to taste their delicious wines. For the cooking class, we'll head over to a restaurant in Echmiadzin to participate in an Armenian cooking class, after which we'll sit down to taste our own creations. Yum!
If you decide to go for for either or both of these activities, the total duration of the tour will be approximately six to seven hours.
