Join us on this journey in the heart of ancient Persia on this private day trip from Yazd to Shiraz. You'll discover Persepolis, Pasargada, and Naqsh-e Rostam, three of the most important archeological sites in Iran.

Day Trip Details

After picking you up at your hotel at the designated time, we'll begin this private day trip, leaving behind the city of Yazd. We'll cross the vast desert valleys until we reach Pasargadae, the first capital of the Achaemenid Empire, founded by Cyrus the Great in the 6th century B.C.

In this site filled with symbolism, we'll visit Cyrus the Great's tomb, a modest yet imposing limestone tomb over 2,500 years old. We'll also visit the remains of its royal palaces, such as the Audience Hall and the Private Palace, gaining an understanding of the greatness of an empire that marked the beginning of an era.

We'll continue our tour at the monumental Necropolis of Naqsh-e Rostam, an overwhelming site where you'll see the tombs of four Archaemenid kings. Have you heard of Darius I and Xerxes I? You'll see how the façades of the mausoleums imitate the Persian palace style, and below, you'll admire the reliefs of epic battles and royal coronations sculptured during the era of the Sasanian Empire.

After stopping for you to grab a bite to eat, we'll head to the gem of Achaemenid art, Persepolis, the legendary ceremonial capital of the empire. Founded by Darius the Great, this city in ruins was designed to impress. We'll cross the Gate of All Nations, which was guarded by giant winged bulls in its days, and step inside a sacred metropolis where the delegates from across the empire would come to pay tribute.

We'll explore the majestic Apadana Palace, with its reliefs on the stairs of Apadana, which depict scenes of diplomacy, the offering of tributes, and the empire's diversity. You'll also admire the erected columns of the Hall of a Hundred Columns, the elegant palace of Tachara, and other remains that still reflect the imperial vision of the ancient Persians.

The day trip will conclude in the city of Shiraz, birthplace of poets, gardens, and refined culture. We'll drop you off at your hotel after 10 hours.
