At 8:30 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Yangon and set off on our private tour of this vibrant city. While not the official capital of Myanmar, Yangon is its largest city and undoubtedly one of the liveliest places in the country.
The first stop on our tour will be a visit to Chaukhtatgyi Buddha Temple to admire its impressive Reclining Buddha statue. As we marvel at the sheer size of the sculpture, our guide will reveal the meanings behind the engravings on the soles of its feet.
We'll then visit the National Museum, where we'll learn all about the culture and history of Myanmar, also called Burma. Afterwards, we'll stroll through the centre of Yangon, seeing the old buildings built during the British colonial era contrast with the colourful food stalls that line the streets.
You'll then have time to get lunch at one of the many local restaurants, before we head onwards to Bogyoke Aug San Market. Formerly known as Scott's Market, this bazaar is the perfect place to souvenirs and handicrafts to bring home from your trip.
Not far from the market, we'll find Kandawgyi Lake, one of two large lakes located in Yangon. Here we'll enjoy a peaceful break from the hustle and bustle of the city centre as well as seeing Karaweik, the emblematic palace located on the lakeshore.
Our last stop will be at Shwedagon Pagoda, the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar and one of the most beautiful in Southeast Asia. You'll be enchanted by its enormous gilded stupa.
At the end of your private tour of Yangon, we'll drop you back off at your hotel for around 6 pm.
Important information
The National Museum and Bogyoke Aung San Market are closed on Mondays and public holidays. If you choose to do the tour one of these days, we'll spend more time visiting the rest of the places on the itinerary instead.
