Terracotta Army Museum
Why visit the Terracotta Army?
The Terracotta Army, in addition to being considered one of the 8th wonders of the world, has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This location is made up of more than 7000 real-size soldiers, horses and carriages, which have an overwhelming millenary history behind them. Did you know that they were discovered by local farmers while searching for water for Xian?
At this museum, you'll find 3 pits full of the funerary art of a large army of the self-proclaimed emperor Qin Shi Huang. It's rumoured that this ruler, who was barely 13 years of age, ordered the construction of these memorial pieces back in 221 B.C.
In addition, you'll have the opportunity to be able to take a closer look at some of these statues outside the pits. You'll surely be surprised by the details of the enamel decoration in different colours. What's the meaning of each of the symbols on the warrior's clothing? What restoration techniques have been used with these ancient pieces? This visit is fascinating!
Opening Times
The Terracotta Army Museum opens from Monday to Sunday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Please keep in mind that last entry is an hour before closure.
Important
Please keep in mind that, although the price advertised by Civiatis is higher than that of the official museum website, our booking process is a lot easier. Moreover, tickets are not available at the museum's ticket offices and, in times of high demand, it's very difficult to gain access without a reservation. In additional, the official website is currently only available in Chinese and for payments from China. There may be a change in price because of the ease and convenience of the purchase.
