Delve into the history of the Tang Dynasty, Shakyamuni and Emporer Gaozong on this tour of the Famen Temple and the Qianling Mausoleum.
Description
At the indicated time we'll pick you up from your hotel in Xi'an and set off on an hour and a half long journey to the Famen Temple, one of the most important Buddhist temples in China that houses the relics of Shakyamuni.
During the guided tour of the Famen Temple, which will last between 2.5 and 3 hours, we'll admire its outstanding pagoda and learn why this sanctuary is so revered by the followers of Buddha, who come here in search of meditation, peace and tranquility.
After visiting the temple, we'll go to a traditional restaurant in the area to enjoy a typical Chinese lunch that includes different specialties of the most authentic gastronomy of the region. After refueling, we'll head to the Qianling Mausoleum, built 1300 years ago at an altitude of more than 1000 meters (3280 feet).
When we arrive, we'll walk the "spiritual path" to the entrance of the mausoleum. This impressive structure commemorates the members of the House of Li, the imperial family of the Tang Dynasty. At the gate, two stone lions will welcome us.
To learn about the history of this lineage, we'll go on a guided tour of the complex and visit the tombs of Emperor Gaozong and his wife, Empress Wu. We'll also visit Prince Yide's Mausoleum, where we'll admire the impressive murals representing different scenes of palace life. It'll take tour breath away!
At the end of the tour, we'll head back to your hotel in Xi'an, arriving 8 hours after pickup.
