Did you know that the Lake District is the largest national park in the UK? On this half-day tour from Windermere, we'll enjoy its incredible scenery and see eight of its springs - you won't be able to stop taking photos!

Lake District Half-Day Tour

At 2 pm, we'll meet at Windermere train station and board a minibus that will take us to explore the north of the Lake District National Park, the largest in the UK.

The first stop of the day will be at Kirkstone Inn, the highest inhabited building in the park. From here we'll enjoy privileged views of Lake Windermere and the town of Ambleside.

Descending into the valley of the River Rothay, we'll see Brothers Water Lake and the towns of Patterdale and Glenridding. Then, we'll head to see the second largest spring in the Lake District, Ullswater Lake, and tell you about its links to the English poet William Wordsworth.

Next, we leave Ullswater behind and make our way to Blencathra, one of the northerly hills in the Lake District. There, we'll see its 868-meter-high summit and admire the slopes of Sharp Edge before checking out the Castlerigg Stone Circle, an impressive megalithic monument full of secrets.

Afterward, we'll visit Derwentwater Lake, where two of the vacation homes of the late children's author Beatrix Potter are located. Did you know that some scenes from Star Wars were also filmed in this area?

We'll continue our tour to Ashness Bridge, the most photographed bridge in the Lake District. We'll also stop at Surprise View, a viewpoint from which we can see Bassenthwaite Lake, the Solway Firth and the distant mountains of Scotland.

Then, in the final part of the route, we'll see the small lake of Thirlmere, the Dunmail Raise mountain pass as well as the lakes of Grasmere and Rydal Water. Pure natural beauty!

The excursion will finish around 6:20 pm at the starting point.
