Day Trip to Kluane National Park
Day Trip to Kluane National Park
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the entrance of the Sternwheeler Hotel in Whitehorse and set off toward Kluane National Park, one of the most fascinating places in Canada. Declared a Unesco World Heritage Site, Kluane boasts breathtaking landscapes that will leave you speechless.
Upon arrival, we'll put on snowshoes and enjoy a route through the snowy trails, exploring the unique variety of plants and wildlife. We'll see Kathleen Lake and do a short uphill trek to Rock Glacier, where we'll get spectacular panoramic views of the other mountains and glaciers in the park.
We'll continue our snowshoe hike until we reach the historic town of Klukshu, a local village that earned a reputation thanks to the residents' expertise in salmon fishing. By now you'll have built up an appetite! To remedy this, we'll stop at a local restaurant to enjoy a typical meal - delicious!
Last but not least, we'll visit the Da Ku Cultural Center, where we'll learn more about the history of Kluane National Park.
Finally, we'll return to the starting point in Whitehorse and finish the tour after a total of seven hours.
Summer Tour
If you choose to do the activity in summer, you'll see the landscapes of Kluane National Park without snow. However, the Canadian wilderness is just as spectacular during the warm season. We of course won't do the tour on snowshoes, but rather on dry ground, so we'll take advantage of the good weather in the best possible way!
The summer tour will start at 8:30 am and will last between 8 and 9 hours. This option doesn't include lunch at the park's restaurant.
