Whitehorse Ice Fishing
Whitehorse Ice Fishing
The day begins at 1 pm at the Sternwheeler Hotel & Conference Centre from where we'll head to one of the many lakes in the Yukon. This territory stands out particularly because of its variety of lakes and rivers, so ice fishing is a perfect activity to enjoy in this area.
We will take a snowshoe walk through the area, enjoying a unique journey over the frozen territory. Once we get to the lake chosen by the guide we'll try our hand at Ice fishing is a historic activity dating back 4000 years, initially as a fundamental means of survival. As soon as we arrive at the lake in Whitehorse, we'll drill a hole through the ice, thickness of which can be up to 1 metre in winter!
Then we'll make a small bonfire to keep warm and sit around the hole to begin fishing. Around the Yukon lakes, you can find a variety of fish including northern pike, lake trout, arctic grayling and rainbow trout.
If we're lucky and we manage to catch a fish, our guide will slice it and cook it on the fire. A delicious meal from scratch!
Fionally we'll head back to the start point for 5 pm.
