Emerald Lake + Carcross Desert Excursion
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll collect you from your hotel in Whitehorse to begin this tour of one of the most fascinating places in the Yukon region in the northeast of Canada.
Our first stop will be at Emerald Lake, which is called so due to its famous green colour. Do you know why it boasts such incredible colours? We'll learn all about this as we stroll along its banks, where we'll take a short break to enjoy a snack and a drink.
Next, we'll make our way to the Carcross Desert, the smallest desert in the world, where we'll check out its sand dunes. You'll probably be rather surprised by the presence of such an arid area in one of Canada's most northernly points. The reason for this unique geographical feature will of course be revealed on this tour.
Next to the desert is the Caribou Crossing Wildlife Museum, where we'll be able to see taxidermy animals and learn about Yukon's native wildlife. We'll also be able to check out the faithful recreation of other species that once inhabited these lands in prehistoric times, such as the woolly mammoth.
Once we've finished visiting the museum, our tour will continue in the town of Carcross. In this picturesque town in Yukon, we'll learn about the gold rush. During this period, which took place during the end of the 19th century and the start of the 20th century, many adventurers arrived in North America in search of gold. We'll hear all about the most amazing stories!
From Carcross, we'll finally return to the hotels in Whitehorse, where this tour will be brought to an end after 5.5 hours together.
