Warsaw at War Free Tour
At 2 pm, we'll meet at Warsaw's Sigismund Column and begin a two-hour tour that will take us back in time. We can all imagine the horror that Poland had to live through during World War II, but what was daily life really like in the capital back then? Let's find out!
Throughout the tour, the guide will tell us about the beginnings of the Nazi invasion and the subsequent occupation. We'll discover how the Germans created the largest ghetto in occupied Europe in 1940, among other things.
We'll continue walking through the outskirts of the historical center until we come across the sculpture of the Little Insurgent, an icon of Warsaw. After learning how the youngest citizens defended their city, we'll head towards the Warsaw Rising Monument, dedicated to all the fighters who lost their lives in the famous 1944 battle. Afterwards, we'll cross Miodowa Street to the Polish Army Cathedral.
The next stop will be in front of the Wielki Theater, a perfect place to learn about Polish culture back in the time of the war. Did you know that thanks to some artists of the time it was possible to rebuild the city? It's a truly moving story.
Finally, we'll stop at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, one of the most visited sites in Warsaw. With the memory of the people who lived through one of the hardest stages of modern history fresh in our minds, we'll say goodbye and end the tour at about 4 pm.
