Praga District Free Tour
Praga District Free Tour
At the appointed time we'll meet in front of St. Florian's Cathedral, where we'll begin this free tour of Warsaw's Praga district.
First, we'll walk to the Monument to a Street Band, a sculptural ensemble consisting of a violinist, a guitarist, an accordionist, a figure playing a percussion instrument and a fifth character playing the banjo. We'll discuss the history of this work of art, which is closely linked to the interwar period.
Next, we'll pass through the so-called Bermuda Triangle of Warsaw... Why is it called that, you ask? We'll tell you all about its mysteries during the tour! Next, we'll have the opportunity to visit the courtyards of some of the buildings in Praga, which house small religious altars. These corners were created during the Second World War and served as a place of worship and meeting.
Afterward, we'll approach the Bazar Różyckiego, the oldest market in Warsaw which opened in 1882. In its stalls, you can find all kinds of products, from wedding dresses to the traditional dish pyzy. Fun fact: Adam Ważyk himself mentioned this bazaar in one of his poems!
Finally, we'll take a walk to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Mary Magdalene, a beautiful temple featuring five onion-shaped domes topped by Orthodox crosses.
Then, after a two-hour tour of the Praga district, we'll conclude the tour at the Dworzec Wileński metro station.
