Communist Warsaw Free Tour
Communist Warsaw Free Tour
We'll meet at 2 pm in Warsaw's Grzybowski Square to start our tour of communist Warsaw and learn all about the communist party's 45-year reign in the Polish capital.
Accompanied by an expert history guide, we'll see and learn about the most important buildings from this period. First, we'll pass by the former Communist Party headquarters and discover how life changed for Warsaw residents after World War II.
The next stop of the tour will be the monument to Freedom of Expression, located in front of the former government building that was in charge of censoring news that reached citizens.
Then, we'll visit the Palace of Science and Culture. Considered one of the most impressive and controversial buildings in Warsaw, it was built by order of Stalin as a gift from the Russian people to the Polish city. Maybe some great New York skyscraper will come to mind when you look at it...
Finally, we'll stop at the "Eastern Wall", where we'll learn about the "Solidarity" movement which was promoted by Pope John Paul II at the end of the communist era in Warsaw.
After about 2 history-packed hours, we'll finish our free tour of communist Warsaw at around 4 pm.
