Warsaw & Łazienki Park Tour
Warsaw & Łazienki Park Tour
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at Sigismund's Column and set off on our tour of Warsaw.
In front of the column, we'll see the Royal Castle, which was once the official residence of Sigismund III and is an icon of the city today. We'll then continue walking to St. John's Cathedral to admire the remnants of the Mazovian Gothic structure. In addition, we'll see the remains of the great fortified network that surrounded the metropolis at the Barbican.
Next, we'll learn all about Marie Curie and her pioneering research on radioactivity, as she was born in Warsaw. We'll then visit the Warsaw Uprising Monument, which was built in memory of the people who lost their lives in the 1944 rebellion.
After we've spent 2 hours touring the historic centre, we'll head to Łazienki Park, which is also known as the Royal Baths Park. We'll see these baths, the Temple of Diana and various other works of art such as the sculpture of the composer Fryderyk Chopin.
We'll also admire the imposing Łazienki Palace, a neoclassical building that was constructed in the 17th century upon an artificial island. Its façade is notable for its Ionic columns and a balustrade teeming with mythological symbolism. As we stroll around the park, we may also see the squirrels and peacocks that live in the gardens.
Having spent 4 hours touring Warsaw and Łazienki Park, our tour will end at the exit of the park.
