With this boat trip on Lake Wanaka, you'll drink in its stunning landscapes and take a walk around either Ruby, Stevensons, or Mou Waho Island. You choose!

Lake Wanaka Islands Cruise

When booking this activity, you can choose between 3 different ways to enjoy Lake Wanaka to the fullest. All of them start in Roys Bay at the indicated time:

Cruise to Ruby Island (1 hour)

If you choose this option, we'll set sail on a catamaran at 1 pm on this spectacular South Island lake of New Zealand. See Wanaka from a totally new perspective!

After approximately 15 minutes of sailing, we'll arrive at Ruby Island, certainly the jewel of this particular area! Here, you can disembark to take a pleasant walk around the beautiful island and take photos from some of its many viewpoints. You're sure to fall in love!

Cruise to Stevensons Island (2 hours)

If you want to visit this more remote island, we recommend choosing the boat trip to Stevensons Island, which departs from Wanaka at 3 pm.

With this option, we'll sail for approximately 45 minutes on Lake Wanaka until we reach the island. There, we suggest you take a half-hour guided tour of the island to discover the native animals and plant life. Or, if you prefer, you can wander and explore on your own! Whatever your choice, we assure you that the views of the Southern Alps offered by Stevensons Island will leave you speechless.

Cruise to Mou Waho Island (3.5 hours)

In this option, we'll visit Mou Waho Island, a nature reserve of the Department of Conservation free of predators where we'll be able to see a lake formed by a natural glacier at its summit.

At 9 am we'll meet in Wanaka and sail to the island. Upon arrival, we'll hike for 2 hours to see all the natural treasures of Mou Waho. We'll climb to the top of the lookout point to admire a truly magical view of the region! Plus, we'll learn all about the local flora and fauna, geology, and colonial and Maori history.
