The Motherland Calls Tour in Volgograd

At 1:30 pm, we'll meet in Lenin Square, in the centre of Volgograd. From there, we'll set off for Mamayev Kurgan, the historic hill that crowns this Russian city.

As we approach The Motherland Calls, we'll admire the magnitude of this great woman warrior who watches over Volgograd. Her posture, features and sheer size amaze all who visit.

This 280-foot (85-metre) high statue is the highlight of an entire monumental complex commemorating the famous Battle of Stalingrad. As we consider the importance of this World War II battle, we'll walk through the Square of Those Who Fought to the Death and stroll through the gardens leading to the base of The Motherland Calls.

During the tour, we'll come across breathtaking sculptures symbolising the war. One of these sculptures is the "Sorrowful Mother", the meaning of which we'll unveil during our visit. To round off our tour of Mamayev Kurgan, we'll see the golden-domed Orthodox cathedral that towers over the hill.

After an unforgettable tour of one of the most visited places in Volgograd, we'll say our goodbyes at 3:30 pm.
