Tour of Villavieja + Boat Tour
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at Villavieja Main Park to start this guided tour of the most renowned sites in Villavieja, a town that receives thousands of archaeologists to carry out their fossil investigations.
We'll begin our tour by diving into the town's prehistory at our first stop, the Paleontological Museum. Here, you'll explore three fascinating rooms that showcase the geological eras of our planet, along with 950 pieces discovered in the region. Get ready to marvel at fossils of giant turtles, sloth bears, crabs, and fish that lived over 14 million years ago!
Continuing our tour, we'll visit the Casa Museo del Totumo (Totumo House Museum), a museum where a local artisan displays handmade items crafted from the calabash tree, a plant native to the Tatacoa Desert. Be sure to pick up a traditional souvenir to take home!
Afterward, we'll walk to the Magdalena River Port to embark on a 45-minute boat tour. Throughout the journey, we'll share the town's hidden mysteries and legends as you admire its flora and fauna. If you're lucky, you might spot iguanas, turtles, and birds–don't forget your camera!
We'll also visit La Planta Tatacoa, an artisan beer factory, where, if you wish, you can enjoy a beer and take some fun pictures.
Finally, we'll return to Central Park after a total of 4 hours exploring the paleontological capital of Huila.
