If you’re looking to experience Colombia’s stunning flora and fauna in total comfort, join us on this scenic boat cruise along the Magdalena River!
Relax on the Magdalena River
We’ll meet in the main park of Villavieja at the appointed time and walk together to the port. Here, we’ll board a traditional canoe, ready for our journey down Colombia’s most famous river. After a quick safety briefing, we’ll set off!
The Magdalena River, originating in Huila and flowing all the way to the Caribbean Sea, is a national treasure—its basin covers 24% of Colombia’s land!
As we cruise approximately 7 km (4.3 mi) downriver, we’ll get to observe the region’s characteristic flora and fauna. Look out for birds such as Chilean cormorants, needle ducks, ospreys, cattle egrets, and tufted ducks.
We’ll also keep our eyes peeled for iguanas, lizards, and charapa turtles—and, if we’re lucky, the elusive Magdalena River otter! Plant enthusiasts will enjoy seeing local flora, including caracolí, saman, igua, matarratón, guácimo, payande, and pancoger crops.
After an hour on the water, we’ll return to our starting point at the port.
