Day Trip to Tatacoa Desert + Stargazing
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Villavieja. From there, we'll set off toward the Tatacoa Desert to embark on an incredible adventure through this unique tropical dry forest, considered one of the best stargazing destinations in the world.
Our first stop will be at the Red Desert, an arid area with ochre-colored rock formations located in a town called Cuzco. This scenery will be the perfect place to take pictures that seem from another planet. You'll feel like you're on Mars!
Afterward, we'll continue our trip and head to the Gray Desert, where we'll explore the Valle de los Fantasmas (Phantom Valley). We'll wander along a winding path surrounded by dunes with labyrinth-like gullies that plunge as deep as 65 feet (20 meters). As the sun begins to set, it'll be like walking on the moon!
Next, we'll visit the Desert Oasis natural pool, where you'll have the chance to take a dip and enjoy a refreshing slushy or natural juice.
Lastly, we'll end the day by admiring the breathtaking beauty of the celestial dome from the Tatacoa Astronomical Observatory, where you'll learn about constellations, stars, the moon, and other celestial bodies.
After 8 hours of enjoying this adventure in the Tatacoa Desert, we'll drop you off at your hotel in Villavieja.
