Birdwatching in Villavicencio
Birdwatching in Villavicencio
We'll pick you up at 5:30 am at your hotel in Villavicencio and drive to the so-called 'piedemonte llanero'. This area, located in the natural region of the Orinoquia, is characterized by lush forests that serve as a habitat for numerous wild birds.
First we'll have a delicious breakfast of local products in the middle of nature and then we'll take a walk along different ecological trails. These trails, which pass through a large forest reserve, will allow us to get close to the main bird habitats in the mountainous area of Villavicencio.
During this bird-watching route, we'll see numerous native species. These include such characteristic birds as woodpeckers, squirrel cuckoos and bearded vultures. We'll also observe a wide variety of parrots and toucans.
Along the route, we'll discover the main characteristics of size, plumage and beak that allow us to distinguish one bird from another. We'll also make several stops to visit different viewpoints, where we'll watch the sunrise over these beautiful places in the Colombian department of Meta.
Finally, we'll conclude the tour by returning to your hotel in Villavicencio, where we're expected to arrive at 10:30 am.
