Perené Valley Tour
Perené Valley Tour
At 8 am, we'll meet up on Leopoldo Krausse Avenue in Villa Rica and begin our tour of the Perené Valley.
On our way there, we'll cross the central jungle and pass the Cerro de Sal mine where Indigenous communities once extracted salt. We'll then make a stop at the Tinkuy Viewpoint to see where the Chanchamayo and Paucartambo Rivers meet and where the Perené River begins.
Next, we'll continue to the Machetero Kingdom. This space is dedicated to the protection of this giant rodent. After visiting this centre, we'll head to an Asháninka community where the members will share their culture and traditions with us.
After learning about the Asháninka community's way of life, we'll head into the jungle to the Bride's Veil and Bayoz Waterfalls. These spots are two of the main natural attractions in the Perené Valley. We'll admire this unspoilt environment and take a boat trip on the Perené River to admire the beautiful scenery along the riverbank.
Our last stop will be at the Zhaveta Yard, also known as the Butterfly Garden. We'll marvel at the different species of flying insects and mammals that live in this sanctuary, where we'll also find monkeys, turtles, paiches and macaws.
Having spent 10 hours touring the Perené Valley, we'll return to Villa Rica and drop you off back at the starting point.
