Villa Rica & Oxapampa 2, 3 or 4-Day Tour
Villa Rica & Oxapampa 2, 3 or 4-Day Tour
Day 1
Once we've picked you up from your hotel in Villa Rica or the bus station at the scheduled time, we'll set off on our adventure to the Peruvian Central Rainforest. To begin, we'll visit a coffee farm in Villa Rica and learn how coffee plants are grown here. We'll even try some coffee!
Afterwards, we'll go to the Oconal Lagoon to go on a walk through this lush wetland area. We'll take a break for lunch and then make our way to the Lion Waterfall. Let's find out the reason behind its name!
We'll then go up to the La Cumbre Viewpoint and the Los Ositos orchidarium, a magical place where we'll be able to see numerous varieties of these flowers and other plants.
To round off our first day, we'll visit a coffee quality control laboratory. Here, we'll taste different types of coffee and learn how to distinguish them based on their aroma, colour and flavour. We'll spend our first night in a hotel in Villa Rica.
Day 2
On our second day we'll have breakfast and drive to the town of Oxapampa, one of the first Austro-German colonies in Peru. We'll observe its characteristic European architecture, which features wooden buildings and gable roofs, before visiting a handicraft shop.
Next, we'll head to a dairy plant. Here, the owners will show us how they make their different varieties of cheese and yoghurt. We'll then go to the Warapo, which is a mill where the juice from sugar cane is extracted.
We'll pause for lunch and, in the afternoon, head to the Tunki Cave to admire its unique rock formations. To round off our second day, we'll go to a ranch where you'll have some free time to try activities such as horseriding and canoeing. Afterwards, we'll return to Villa Rica and drop you off at the station or the hotel you've booked for the night.
2-Day Tour + 1 Day in the Perené Valley
If you choose this option, we'll spend the second night in Villa Rica and then head to the Perené Valley on the morning of the second day. We'll pass the Cerro de Sal, which is where Indigenous communities used to extract salt. In addition, we'll visit Tincuy, the point where the valley's two main rivers meet.
We'll then pay a visit to an Asháninka community to learn about their culture through dances and different traditions. From here, we'll walk to the spot where the Bride's Veil and Bayoz Waterfalls are located before taking a boat trip on the Perené River. After making a stop at a local butterfly farm and a zoo, we'll return to Villa Rica.
2-Day Tour + 1 Day in Pozuzo
At the end of the second day, we'll travel to Pozuzo and spend the night there. In the morning, we'll take a tour of this Austro-German colony, which was the first one in South America. We'll pass the welcome gate to the town, the square and the replica of the Norton ship before visiting the Schafferer Museum. Here, you'll gain a better understanding of the history of the European settlers.
After a break for lunch, we'll see the Emperor Wilhelm I Bridge and visit a craft brewery, where we'll have a tasting of typical German beers. At the end of the day, we'll return to Villa Rica.
4-Day Tour
If you want to make sure you don't miss a thing, this 4-day tour is perfect for you. We'll visit Villa Rica, Oxapampa, Pozuzo and the Perené Valley as in the itinerary detailed in the previous sections. We'll spend two nights in Villa Rica and one in Pozuzo.
