Sierras de Comechingones Trip
At 7:30 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in Villa de Merlo and drive to the outskirts of the city, where the Mogote Bayo Provincial Natural Reserve is located. To get a better understanding of these spectacular landscapes, we will stop at the famous sun viewpoint, where you will enjoy some fantastic panoramic views of the area.
After this brief photo stop, we will head to the Sierras de Comechingones, a steep mountain range that extends between the Argentine provinces of San Luis and Córdoba. As we travel along the slopes of these peaks, also called Sierras Pampeanas, we will discover both the fauna and the flora of this highly biodiverse area.
Then we continue along a road that will take us up to 7500 feet above sea level, the perfect height to enjoy views of the spectacular Conlara Valley. While we admire the landscapes, we will also tell you why the Argentinean ethnic groups of the Hinia and Kamîare are commonly known as "comechingones". Their ancestors inhabited these territories of the Sierras Pampeanas until the arrival of the Spanish conquerors in the 16th century.
We will continue exploring the nature of the Sierras de Comechingones with a short trek along one of its main trails. Following this path, you will get a better understanding of the geology of the area, characterized by enormous valleys and watercourses.
Finally, we will drive back to your hotel in Villa de Merlo, arriving at 11:30 am.
