Villa de Leyva Guided Visit
Villa de Leyva Guided Visit
At your chosen time, we'll meet in front of the Selina Hotel and start our guided tour of Villa de Leyva. This town in the Boyacá region is one of the most beautiful towns in Colombia.
From here, we'll walk towards the main square. This iconic spot features Our Lady of the Rosary Church, a fountain and cobbled roads, which gives the impression that time has stood still for centuries. Did you know that Villa de Leyva's square is one of the largest squares in South America? It's also why Villa de Leyva was named a National Monument.
Next, we'll discuss the origins of this town and go as far back as prehistoric times. Villa de Leyva is home to three museums that exhibit Cretaceous fossils and dinosaur sculptures that have been found in this area. The most complete pliosaur specimen to be found anywhere in the world was discovered in this part of Colombia.
We'll also admire the colonial architecture found in the town by strolling through the different streets with colourful balconies. In addition, we'll see how many of these mansions have been converted into craft shops and charming hotels. These buildings contribute to the charm that this town in the Eastern Cordillera of the Andes holds.
Having spent 2 hours 30 minutes wandering around the old part of the town, we'll finish our tour in the town centre.
