Vila Viçosa Marble Tour
Vila Viçosa Marble Tour
At your selected time, we'll meet you on Avenida Duques de Bragança. There, you'll get back in your vehicle and follow the guide's car to the marble quarries of Vila Viçosa, one of the most well-known in Portugal.
Once there, we'll start exploring this immense marble quarry together. During our tour, we'll tell you about the importance of this stone to the villages of Alentejo - you will be amazed by the size of the quarry!
Did you know that the marble is not ready for use immediately after extraction? After visiting the quarry, we will visit a local workshop to learn how this rock is processed in Vila Viçosa.
We'll then visit another workshop where we'll have the opportunity to see how the marble is treated to form its final shape. You'll be fascinated by the exclusive marble pieces they have on show here.
Finally, we'll return to Vila Viçosa to finish the tour.
Itinerary changes
On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays the industrial workshops are closed, so the tour will be focussed on the Alentejo marble quarries instead. In this case the tour will last two hours.
