Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the river port in Vila Real de Santo António, ready to start the cruise. Once on board the boat, we'll set sail along the Guadiana River, admiring the beautiful scenery lining its banks and the waterfowl that inhabit the reeds. The boat trip will take us to see different riverside villages.
After a 2-hour cruise along the Guadiana River, we'll make a stop in Alcoutim. In this village, we'll be welcomed by a curious statue known as O Contrabandista, or the Smuggler, in honor of the smuggling activity on the border for so many years.
Here, we'll hop off the boat and you'll have two hours to explore the island at your own pace. You can also do some shopping, take a dip in the river, or visit Sanlúcar de Guadiana, a Spanish village located just in front of Alcoutim.
Following this, we'll reconvene and go to a nearby restaurant for a delicious local lunch. The menu will consist of pâté, olives, chorizo, and cheese as an appetizer, grilled cod with salad or roast pork leg as the main course, and pudding for dessert. You'll also have wine, soft drinks, and water available.
Finally, we'll take the boat back to Vila Real de Santo António, where we'll arrive 7 hours later.
