How Will the Wine Tasting Work?
The experience will take place at The Wine Shcool, a popular wine bar located in Vila Nova de Gaia. This town in north Portugal, separated from Porto by the Duero River, is famous for its extraordinary wine-producing culture.
During the tasting, depending on the option chosen, you'll have between 30 and 45 minutes to try different types of Portuguese wines, which will allow you to experience different tastes, aromas and colours.
At the end of the tasting, you'll be able to consult the guide to ask any question you might have relating to the wine-producing culture in Vila Nova de Gaia.

When making your booking, you can choose between the following options:
- Taste 3 wines
- Taste 3 wines and 3 cheeses
- Oenology workshop: includes a tasting of 5 wines and 5 Portuguese products
Demystify Wine Workshop
If you choose this option, you'll take part in a Demystify Wine Workshop. We'll begin the experience learning about the basic ideas of a tasting, where we'll discover the concepts of wine, the terms that are used when describing it and the best advice for choosing one.
Next, we'll learn about the history of wine in Porto. We'll talk about its origin, how it's made and the characteristics of it that make it unique. Afterwards, we'll learn about the 5 wine-producing regions in Portugal and their most iconic wines.
We'll finish this wine workshop with a tasting of 5 wines, which we'll pair with 5 typical products of Portuguese cuisine.
Schedule
You can take part in the tastings at whatever time you'd like, within the opening times of the wine bar: from Monday to Sunday from 11 am to 7 pm.
With regards to the Demystify Wine Workshop, you can take part in this from Monday to Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm.
Please keep in mind that these times are flexible and subject to changes.
