Why Visit The Fonseca Winery?
The Portuguese banks of the Duero produce some of the most exquisite wines in northern Portugal in towns such as Vila Nova de Gaia. In this town, separated from Porto by the river, the Fonseca Winery can be found. Did you know that this winery dates back more than 200 years?
This tour of this wine-tourism center lasts around an hour. Throughout your tour, you'll discover how these Porto wines are made. During the self-guided tour, you'll also discover the growing history of the Quinta do Panascal, learn about the aging process of the wines, and have the opportunity to discover state-of-the-art sustainable wine-making techniques.
The guided tour of the Fonesco Winery will end in the tasting room, where you'll try a glass of Oporto Fonesca Bin 27. Children will be able to try some grape juice made from grapes grown in the Duero Valley.
Winery Tour + Dinner & Fado Show
If you choose this option, you'll get to enjoy a guided tour of the wine cellar and a meal with a fado show at the Fonseca Winery.
The dinner menu includes a vegetal cream soup and sea bass for a main dish. For dessert, you'll enjoy a delicious creme brulée. Drinks include two glasses of wine: Bin 27 and Sirocco. During the meal, you'll also enjoy a live fado show.
The duration of this experience is 4 hours.
Opening Times
You can take the free tour of the Fonseca Winery within its opening hours: every day from 11 am to 1 pm and 1:30 pm to 7 pm (final admission at 6 pm).
For the meal with the fado show, this experience takes place every Friday (until October 31, 2024) and on Saturdays (until December 31, 2024) at 7 pm.
