Why Visit the Heidi Horten Collection?

The Heidi Horten Collection is the latest addition to Vienna's cultural institutions, offering viewers an exclusive look into one of the highest-quality private collections in Europe.

With your ticket to the Heidi Horten Collection, you'll not only explore modern pieces from greats like Gustav Klimt, René Magritte, Pablo Picasso, and Andy Warhol but also experience a renovated inner-city palace, itself turned into a work of art.

The museum's permanent collection is particularly unique. The pieces on display were intentionally selected and voted for by museum visitors in a poll organized by the founder, Heidi Horten, creating a new form of participation with the audience. Works by Marc Chagall and Yves Klein can be seen year-round, but the museum also has temporary exhibitions rotating throughout the year.

Temporary Exhibitions

Below you can check out the current exhibits on display:

We❤ (Until August 25, 2024)

This exhibit explores the museum founder's passion for art in three different ways. An avid fan of Expressionism, in particular German Expressionism, you'll encounter works full of vibrant colors before moving into pop art pieces. Explore surrealism and pop art through these works for a deeper understanding of this era in art. Then enter the final space where painting and sculpture blend together to explore the relation between figure and abstraction.

Light, Sound, & Senses (September 19, 2024 to March 2025)

In this exhibit, you'll experience light as a natural, physical, and usable phenomenon and its impact on our senses. The installations encourage active participation inviting you to engage with how you see, hear, and feel the world around you. Through an exclusive piece by Carsten Nicolai, you can become a sound artist, and combine sounds with colors to create soundscapes, for a new sensory experience.

Opening Hours

The Heidi Horten Collection is open daily (except Tuesdays) from 11 am to 7 pm. On Thursday the museum remains open until 9 pm. Final admission is 30 minutes before closing.

Please note that these hours are flexible and subject to change.
