The smell of cinnamon, the warm glow of street lights, the cold winter air, the buzz of the stalls, and the chords of the Christmas carols... It's Christmas in Vienna! Who can resist strolling through the Christmas markets of the Austrian capital? It's said to be one of the best destinations to spend this time of year.
To find out for ourselves, we'll meet at the designated time in front of the main entrance to Mariahilfer Kirche church and set off on this special tour through four of the city's most beautiful Christmas markets. To kick off the tour, we'll be treated to a schnapps tasting at a mulled wine spot.
During the tour, we'll explore three charming Christmas markets, where we'll find everything from handcrafted goods to mulled wine stalls, as well as unique gift ideas for food lovers.
Our first stop is the largest market in the city, where we'll indulge in delicious baked potatoes and Kaiserschmarrn, a local pancake delicacy.
Next, we'll visit the second market, where you can enjoy a warming glass of mulled wine or punch, and take a moment to write some Christmas cards.
As we stroll through the city, we’ll pass some of Vienna's most beautiful spots, meandering along its narrow streets and admiring the distinctive Viennese architecture. You'll see iconic spots in Vienna, such as Karlsplatz, which is even more incredible at Christmas! The famous Musikverein concert hall is located in this square, and every year, the New Year's Concert is held there.
Finally, we'll wrap up the tour at the Christmas village in Maria-Theresien-Platz, where we'll be gifted a delicious Christmas cookie and bring the tour to an end after 2.5 hours.
