Visit one of the most famous Roman aqueducts in Southern France with our Pont du Gard Aqueduct Ticket. You'll have access to this World Heritage Site as well as its museum, cinema, and open-air exhibition.
Pont du Gard Aqueduct Ticket
Your ticket will give you access to one of the main Roman aqueducts found in Southern France. It's only a half hour from both Avignon and Nîmes! You'll be able to visit the monument independently and explore the entire complex around the monument. This includes a museum, a cinema and an open-air exhibition.
Pont du Gard
This Roman aqueduct is one of the best-preserved ancient infrastructures found in Europe. With your skip-the-line ticket, you can walk along the path that runs alongside this great stone monument over the Gardon River.
The Pont du Gard is a unique World Heritage Site constructed in the 1st century AD without cranes, excavators or any other such tools. Used as an aqueduct until the 6th century, the Pont du Gard was a toll road in the Middle Ages and a conventional road from the 18th to the 20th century. In 2000, this ancient bridge was restored to its original state, thus preserving its original appearance.
Pont du Gard Museum
Underneath the Pont du Gard's arches, you'll find the underground museum. This museum houses a fascinating exhibition on the construction of this incredible feat of engineering. The aqueduct was built by a total of 1,000 men and took 5 years to be completed, after which it weighed almost 50,000 tonnes.
The exhibition also has several virtual reconstructions, films and panels that'll help you to understand the importance of engineering and architecture in the Roman Empire.
Memories of the Garrigue
Next to the Pont du Gard, you'll find the open-air exhibition. This exhibition focusses on the history of Mediterranean agriculture and houses some remains of the aqueduct.
Pont du Gard Cinema
In the cinema at the Pont du Gard, you'll be able to watch a documentary about the aqueduct that combines reality and fiction.
Light as Space Exhibition
From April 21 to November 5, 2023, you can discover the multi-sensory and immersive exhibition of the Japanese artist Yasuhiro Chida.
In this exhibition, you'll discover how light and different natural elements can be used to challenge our awareness of space.
This exhibition is open from 10 am to 12:30 pm noon and from 2 pm to 7 pm, every day except Monday mornings, with scheduled entrances every 30 minutes.
Under The Pixels, The Matter Exhibition
From September 15 2024 to January 5 2025, you can attend the exhibition of 4 talented international artists who explore the intersection between digital art and material forms.
Mona Young-Eun Kim presents 5 works that will be distributed in various outdoor spaces on the Rive Gauche. These totems of geometric shapes will include QR codes that will allow you to enjoy an augmented reality experience through your smartphone.
Nicolas Tourte will present 4 works in the room dedicated to the exhibition, as well as another in the reception area. His creations are 3D structures on which dynamic images will be projected.
Regina Silveira, a pioneer of digital art in Brazil, will present 2 works in the exhibition hall, using light and space to transform the environment.
Ana Tavares, meanwhile, will present 2 video mapping installations also in the exhibition hall, accompanied by a series of photographs that complement the visual narrative.
