Verona Walking Tour Details
We'll meet at 10 am near the Ristori Theatre, where we'll start our guided tour of Verona. Are you ready to discover the best of the most romantic city in Italy?
We'll walk through the historical centre of Verona, crossing its streets and most emblematic places, such as the famous Piazza delle Erbe. We'll take a magical step back in time and learn more about the history of Verona.
A few metres from Piazza delle Erbe, we'll find Juliet's house and the balcony that inspired Shakespeare. "O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? [...]". Juliet's poignant words still echo in the patio of this medieval building in Via Cappello 23, giving Verona its delicate nickname of the City of Love.
Our tour continues to the most representative monument in the Veneto region, the Arena di Verona. We'll contemplate the gigantic amphitheatre built in the 1st century A.D. to watch gladiator fights, which today hosts the most important theatrical and musical performances of the city's summer programme. Did you know that Verona's amphitheatre is the third largest Roman amphitheatre in the world?
We'll also get to know Castelvecchio, a military monument of the Della Scala family built between 1354 and 1356 on the banks of the Adige. Home to the Museo Civico, this fortress underwent a major restoration, completed in 1964, and a museum refurbishment by the famous Venetian architect Carlo Scarpa.
After a two-hour visit to discover the main points of interest in Verona the tour will end.
