Description

When booking, you can choose between two different options. Both start at Eurocidade Chaves-Verín Headquarters, include an English–speaking guide, and end back at the starting point.

Chaves, Boticas & Montalegre Tour

We'll meet at the indicated time to cross the border with Portugal and head towards Alto Tâmega, one of the counties that make up the beautiful region of Trás-os-Montes.

First, we'll visit the village of Montalegre and its impressive 12th-century fortress. We'll also visit the Ecomuseum of Montalegre, where we'll discover the history and heritage of this beautiful Portuguese municipality.

Another town we'll visit is Boticas, where you'll fall in love with its stone houses and charming streets! Here we'll visit the Rural Museum, where we'll learn about the agricultural past of Boticas and see the traditional tools that are still preserved. We'll leave you an hour of free time for lunch and then continue the tour.

Finally, we'll visit the town of Chaves, where we'll admire its impressive medieval castle, the site of wars between the Portuguese and Spanish. This site has been declared a National Monument. We'll also cross the Roman bridge of Trajan and, of course, see the thermal baths of Chaves.

We'll conclude the tour by dropping you back off at the starting point.

Chaves, Valpaços & Vila Pouca de Aguiar Tour

With this option, you'll explore Chaves, as in the previous tour, and other emblematic places of Trás-os-Montes.

We'll discover the charms of Vila Pouca de Aguiar, where we'll visit the Parque das Pedras Salgadas, a wooded area with stones of various shapes. We'll also visit Valpaços, where we'll visit the Wine Museum and learn about the winemaking tradition of this town. You decide which areas you want to visit!
