Xalapa & Coatepec Day Trip

  • 6 reviews | 30 travellers
I can't say enough good things about our experience on this tour. We received a text message from the tour company the day before letting us know what time we would be picked up. Our tour guide Steven was excellent. He picked us up on time in a nice clean mini bus. There was a lovely couple on the tour with us who we became friendly with. Steven bounce back and forth between speaking Spanish to the couple and English to us. He had a wealth of historical knowledge to share. 10/10 would recommend!

Xalapa & Coatepec Day Trip

At 8:30 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Veracruz and drive north to visit the State of Veracruz's capital, Xalapa.

First of all, we'll visit the El Lencero Museum. This house has a rich history, as it was where one of Hernán Cortés' soldiers lived, and it served as an inn for travellers. It was also once the residence of Mexico's former president, Antonio López de Santa Anna.

In the museum, we'll see furniture, the former president's personal belongings, the gardens and El Lencero's coffee plantations. Afterwards, we'll head to the centre of Xalapa to do some sightseeing in Veracruz's capital.

You'll visit the Government Palace, the Bishop Guízar and Valencia Cathedral, and the University campus. We'll also visit the Xalapa Museum of Anthropology, which is one of Mexico's most noteworthy museums. Here, you'll be able to observe important utensils that belonged to pre-Hispanic cultures such as the Olmec, Totonaca and Huasteca.

After this journey through history, we'll move on to Coatepec, Mexico's 'magical town'. You may be wondering why 'magic' is a word used to refer to this place, and here's a clue: coffee!

We'll take a tour of the Interactive Coffee Museum, where you'll discover all the secrets behind a cup of coffee, a drink that holds great importance in this region. You'll also taste different types of coffee produced in Coatepec.

At 6:30 pm we'll start our return journey back to your hotel in Veracruz, where we should arrive at 8 pm.
