La Antigua & San Juan de Ulúa Tour

At 9 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Veracruz and start our trip to La Antigua, a town located about 28 kilometres (17 miles) from the Port of Veracruz. After a 40-minute minibus ride, we'll arrive at what is considered to be the first institutionalized European village in the 'New World'.

We'll enter its streets to visit picturesque places such as the Casa del Cabildo, the Chapel of the Rosary or the house of Hernán Cortés, the conquistador who initiated the union of two cultures in this place.

In La Antigua you'll be able to admire the millenary trees that hide great stories of conquests. We'll also be able to see the famous Ceiba tree, where it's believed that Hernán Cortés moored his caravels on his arrival in America.

Later, we'll head to San Juan de Ulua, located on a small island in front of the port of Veracruz. Did you know that it's one of the oldest fortresses in America? We'll tour this place known for having served as protection for Spanish ships. The building was also an important defensive barrier against pirates and, later on, it was also used as a prison for the supporters of the Mexican Independence and Revolution.

After the visit to the fortress, we'll take a panoramic tour of the port and historic center of Veracruz. We'll see the telegraph building, the Malecon, the bastion of Santiago, the old maritime customs house and other iconic buildings on this tour.

We'll not say goodbye before heading south to visit Boca del Río, an area known for its beautiful beaches and incredible views of the Jamapa River. Here, we'll see Banderas Square, Santa Ana Church and the Municipal Palace.

We'll end the visit by returning to the hotels at approximately 2 pm.
