São Jorge Trip
We will pick you up from your hotel in São Jorge at 9:30 am before starting a tour full of surprises. First, we'll head to the Sete Fontes Forest Park, where we'll see beautiful types of plants such as azaleas, fuchsia, and cryptomerias.
Then, we will head to the volcanic formations of Ponta dos Rosais, a steep cape that towers over the sea at 650 feet above sea level - this landscape is truly breathtaking! We'll continue the route in the minibus to the Fajã de João Dias viewpoint - see how the dense vegetation and the Atlantic merge!
Next, we will visit the Beira Cheese Factory to see how this delicious product is made and we will have the opportunity to taste it. At 12 pm, we will stop at a traditional restaurant to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch.
Feeling reenergized, we will head to the church of Santa Barbara, not far from the town of Urzelina. Then, we will travel through the São Jorge mountains to the Casa do Parque, which you can visit on your own to learn about the geology, biodiversity, and heritage of the island.
We then continue the tour, heading to Fajã do Ouvidor and the Simão Dias natural pool. If the weather is good, we will be lucky enough to snorkel in the crystal clear waters - the rich biodiversity of the Azores will leave you fascinated! Later, we will pass the Fajã dos Cubres, the Caldeira Santo Cristo, and stop at the Fajã dos Vimes to admire its coffee plantations by the sea.
The last stop is at Ponta do Topo, where we will have a spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean and Topo Island. The tour finishes back in São Jorge at 5:30 pm at your hotel.
