Valparaíso Chilean Cooking Class & Lunch

At 10 am, we'll meet in Sotomayor Square, in front of the headquarters of the Valparaíso Fire Brigade. From there, we'll hop on the metro to Caleta Portales area and buy the products we'll need to make a delicious Chilean ceviche.

First of all, we'll visit a fresh fish stall to buy the main ingredients for our recipe. Next, we'll go to the Cardonal Market or to the Produce Fair on Avenida Argentina. At one of these two places, we'll choose the vegetables and lemons required to mix a good pisco sour, a traditional Chilean drink that you'll love! We'll also buy some seasonal fruits for dessert.

Our next stop will be at a traditional botillería, a type of shop specialising in liquors and different alcoholic drinks. Here, we'll choose the bottle of wine that we'll enjoy with our meal. From here, we'll go to a private home located on Santo Domingo Hill. A family from Valparaíso will be waiting for us there and, once we've arrived, they'll lead our cooking class.

You'll learn how to make a typical Chilean ceviche, which you'll accompany with pisco sour and traditional bread pancakes called churrascas. While you eat your delicious meal and wash it down with the excellent local wine, the family will discuss Valparaíso's gastronomy and culinary traditions.

After lunch, we'll take the metro back to the starting point and say our goodbyes at 2 pm.
