At the time indicated, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Valledupar to start the tour in which we'll discover the most iconic places in Diomedes Díaz's life. It's time to delve into the legacy of this famous Vallenata musical composer.
The first stop of the day will be Los Juglares Park, where we'll see the sculptures of Diomedes Díaz and Martín Elías. There, we'll learn about some of the curiosities of the biographies of these Colombian singer-songwriters who were also father and son. How did they become experts in Vallenato? We'll find out!
We'll return to the minibus and leave Valledupar behind, crossing through dry tropical forests to arrive in the town of La Junta, belonging to the region of San Juan del Cesar. Did you know that Diomedes Díaz was born here?
We'll visit Parque del Cacique, where there is another sculpture of the composer along with a small walk of fame of his whole discography. Close by we'll find the Ventana Marroncita Museum. We'll explore this exhibition to learn about the details of the love story between Diomedes Díaz and Patricia Acosta.
Next, we'll get back in our vehicle and head to the Museo Carrizales, where there is a display of clothes, instruments, furniture, photographs and other objects that belonged to the greatest disc seller in the history of Vallenato. All of this will help us better understand why this musician was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of this musical genre.
Finally, it's time to return to Valledupar. Before arriving back, we'll make a stop in a town in the area for a lunch composed of meat, patacones, salad and drink. Additionally, you'll have time to take a dip in the river Badillo.
After a seven-and-a-half-hour trip, we'll end our Diomedes Díaz tour at your hotel.
