Tour Options

During the booking process, you can choose between two options, depending on your preferences. Both options have a duration of 7 hours and include pickup and return transfer to your hotel in Valledupar, as well as a guide just for you. Below, you'll find a brief description of each one:

Diomedes Díaz Private Tour

With this option, we'll discover the most iconic places in the life of Diomedes Díaz. It's time to delve into the legacy of this famous vallenata music composer!

The first stop will be at the Mamá Vila house, who was the artist's mother. In this place, full of memories and family anecdotes, we'll talk about Diomedes' childhood and how he grew up. Afterward, we'll pass by the cemetery where the singer's loved ones are laid to rest.

From here, we'll leave Valledupar and head to the village of La Junta, Diomedes' birthplace. Here, we'll visit Cacique's Park, where there's a sculpture of the composer along with a small walk of fame of his entire discography.

Nearby is the Ventana Marroncita Museum. We'll enter this exhibition to learn the details of the love story between Diomedes Díaz and Patricia Acosta.

Afterward, we'll go to the Carrizal Museum and the Museum of Rosa Elvira Díaz, Diomedes' eldest daughter, where we'll see objects belonging to the biggest record seller in the history of vallenato. All this will help us to understand even better this representative of this musical genre declared Intangible Cultural Heritage.

It's time to start our way back to Valledupar. Before arriving, we'll stop in a local village to recharge our batteries with a delicious lunch typical of the Colombian Caribbean coast. Finally, we'll return to the starting point.

Juglares Vallenatos Private Tour

On this tour, in addition to delve into the life of Diomedes Díaz, we'll also learn about the history of the Juglares vallenatos, some of the greatest exponents of vallenato music in Colombia.

During this tour, we'll immerse ourselves in the life and work of characters such as Rafael Escalona, Emiliano Zuleta, the López brothers, Jorge Oñate, Leandro Díaz, Tobías Pumarejo. Like them, and many others, we'll remember them through their stories, songs and cultural legacy.

First up, we'll go to La Jagua del Pilar, a town that holds historical musical secrets, and to Urumita, birthplace of the iconic song “Gota Fría”. This song was born out of a song battle between Emiliano Zuleta and Lorenzo Morales, and later made popular by Carlos Vives.

Next, we'll visit the Museo del Vallenato in Villanueva, the birthplace of musical dynasties of the vallenato genre. Then, we'll go to the Museo Carrizal, where through photographs and other objects we'll better understand the past of each artist and what vallenato music means in Colombian culture.

Before returning to Valledupar, we'll also stop for a delicious typical lunch. Finally, we'll say goodbye at the starting point.
