Travel back a few millennia as you explore a megalithic area in the north of Extremadura on this 4x4 tour of Valencia de Alcántara- an ancestral route!
Valencia de Alcántara 4x4 Tour
We'll meet at 10 am at the bullring in Valencia de Alcántara. Once we're all there, we'll get into a 4x4 vehicle and set off on a tour of two very special places.
First, we'll travel through the Sierra de San Pedro to visit one of the most important megalithic sites in Europe. We'll walk among granite and slate dolmens more than 4000 years old! Did you know that these structures are funerary in nature?
After visiting the archaeological site, we'll get into the 4x4 and head for Berrocal de la Data. This area has become the fifth natural monument in Extremadura. As soon as you see it, you'll understand why!
This 465-hectare area is made up of a group of granite rocks with different shapes in which the area's griffon vultures nest. It's also surrounded by immense forests of chestnut trees, scrubland and cork oaks.
But that's not all! Millenary cave paintings and five dolmens have also been found on the site: Data I, Data II, Mellizo, Cajirón I and Cajirón I. In this exceptional spot we'll enjoy a picnic of typical products such as cheese and chorizo.
Finally, we'll return to the starting point in Valencia de Alcántara at 1 pm.
