4-Day Trek to Machu Picchu
4-Day Trek to Machu Picchu
Day 1: Urubamba - Lares - Cuncani
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Urubamba at the indicated time and hit the road toward the starting point of our 4-day hike along the Lares Valley.
First, we'll make a pit stop at the Calca market. Here, we'll find countless fruit stands offering regional produce from the area. It'll definitely be the best place to stock up on snacks for the day!
Then, we'll make our way to the natural pools in Lares, where we can enjoy a rejuvenating and refreshing swim. We'll enjoy a brief moment of rest before moving on to a delicious lunch, featuring regional dishes.
After recharging our batteries, we'll head for Cuncani, where our first night's campsite awaits us after another delicious meal.
Day 2: Cuncani - Pumahuanca Pass - Paccha
We'll have an early breakfast, and then set out on a hiking route toward the Sahuasiray Mountain and Colque Cruz. If the weather allows, from the summit we can see incredible panoramic views.
After descending through a forest full of polypepi, an endemic tree of the high Andes, we'll continue walking towards Pumahuanca Pass. Did you know this mountain reaches a towering height of 5,318 meters (17,447 feet)?
Along the way, we'll make a brief stop to enjoy lunch and recharge our batteries before reaching our last stop of the day: Paccha.
Finally, surrounded by beautiful lush vegetation, we'll sit down to enjoy dinner before tucking in for the night at the campsite.
Day 3: Paccha - Ollantaytambo - Aguas Calientes
We'll start the day with breakfast at camp and then set off on our third day of hiking in the Lares Valley. Let's go!
As we begin our day's hike, we'll arrive at a fish farm local to the area to gain insight into fish hatcheries in ponds, a local trade. Did you know that rainbow trout is the main species found in this Peruvian region?
After enjoying lunch, we'll hop in a car and head to Ollantaytambo station to take a train to Aguas Calientes. Here is the access point we need to enter the Incan ruins of Machu Picchu.
While in Aguas Calientes, we'll enjoy a night at a 3-star hotel as well as dinner.
Day 4: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Urubamba
Let's start our final day of hiking the Lares Valley with a bang! We'll enjoy a filling breakfast at the hotel in Aguas Calientes before setting off on our adventure.
Then, we'll head to Machu Picchu for a well-earned visit to one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We'll enjoy two hours at this majestic site, where you won't stop taking pictures!
After taking in the full beauty of this Peruvian treasure, we'll return to Aguas Calientes to recharge our batteries. Here, you can enjoy lunch at any of the local restaurants.
Finally, we'll catch a train back to Ollantaytambo, where upon arrival, we'll be picked up by car and then we'll drop you off back at your hotel in Urubamba.
