Úbeda Mysteries & Legends Tour
Tour Details
Úbeda is known for its rich history and stunning monuments, but did you know it's also a city of eerie legends and ghostly tales? At the designated time, we'll meet at the Gate of Granada, where, according to legend, there's a hidden treasure. Ready to discover the legend of the juancaballos, half-man, half-horse creatures that appear at night, as well as other fascinating mysteries in Úbeda?
We'll first reach the Plaza de San Lorenzo. Here, we'll see the 16th-century Casa de las Torres, also known as the Palacio de los Dávalos. During renovation work on this building, the body of a woman was found walled up. What strange circumstances surrounded her death? We won't take long to find out!
Afterward, we'll head to the Casa de Luna y Sol, a peculiar house decorated with two coats of arms representing the sun and moon. Which historical figure shrouded in mystery lived in this home? We'll find out!
Next, we'll reach the heart of Úbeda's old town, where you'll admire the majestic Vázquez de Molina Square. This square is home to the Basílica y Real Colegiata de Santa María la Mayor de los Reales Alcázares de Úbeda, a Bien de Interés Cultural (Asset of Cultural Interest). It's said that an elf wanders within its halls! In this square, you'll also see the Holy Chapel of the Savior, whose stone facade is considered one of the most beautiful in Andalusia.
Then, we'll set off to the Plaza de San Pablo, with the Church of San Pablo. At this square, we'll tell you about the festivity known as La Pastora, which is no longer celebrated due to a violent event. Lastly, we'll stroll along the city's narrow streets and learn about the life of one of its most famous residents, Hernán Crespo. Thanks to a particular virtue he possessed, this Ubetense achieved a feat that's still remembered in the city today.
Finally, we'll reach the Palacio de los Condes de Guadiana, where we'll reveal the mystery that still echoes within its walls to this day. We'll say our goodbyes at this palace, concluding our 2-hour tour of the mysteries and legends of Úbeda.
