Complete Úbeda Tour
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at Mirador de El Salvador to begin our complete tour of Úbeda. Did you know that UNESCO declared its historic center and landmarks a World Heritage Site? Let's dive into the city's origins!
First, we'll begin walking down the Paseo de la Rotonda de los Miradores, where we'll reach a lookout point to admire the majestic Valle del Guadalquivir. As we stroll along the narrow streets, you'll also see the legendary Hospital de los Honrados Viejos del Salvador.
Then, we'll arrive at the Plaza de Vázquez de Molina, home to the Palacio del Deán Ortega and the Sacra Capilla del Salvador, where we'll go inside to check out the stunning interior. Built in the 16th century, this historic chapel will teach us about local culture as well as some fascinating legends.
Continuing our tour, we'll see the Palacio de Francisco de los Cobos, dedicated to the Secretary of State of the emperor Charles V, who played an important role in shaping the city's grandeur in the 16th century. You can still see his legacy in the city's stunning buildings!
Afterward, we'll head to the Gradeta de Santo Tomás, where the ruins of Saint Thomas the Apostle and the Jewish Houses rest. Our next stop will be at the Convento de San Miguel, known for the Discalced Carmelites. Here, you'll learn about the trials that led St. John of the Cross to this convent. Then, we'll stop at Plaza Primer de Mayo, once the city's market square and an important gathering space for the people of Úbeda.
On our way back, we'll stroll along the Calle Real before arriving once again at the Plaza de Vázquez de Molina, where we'll conclude our 2.5-hour complete tour of Úbeda.
