Rappelling at Sima del Cielo
We'll pick you up at 7 am at your hotel in Tuxtla Gutiérrez and drive to the town of San Fernando, located just half an hour away.
Once we arrive, we'll have breakfast which includes assorted sandwiches, yogurt, fruit, orange juice, and coffee. Then, the instructor will give us some simple safety guidelines and we'll get equipped with helmets, harnesses, and other necessary materials.
Afterward, we'll set off on a 1-hour hike to the Sima del Cielo, a spectacular natural hole perched at a height of 35 meters (115 feet) high with a diameter of 30 meters (98 feet). At its base, it spans no less than 100 meters (328 feet) wide!
It's here that our Sima del Cielo rappelling activity begins. As we descend through this opening, we'll learn all about the geology of this surprising cave. As we'll see, this is a unique place in the state of Chiapas that is sure to leave you speechless.
Following this exciting rappelling activity, we'll leave Sima del Cielo behind and walk an hour back to San Fernando. From there we'll return to your hotel in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, where we'll arrive at 4 pm.
