Royal Palace of Turin Tour
At 1:30 pm we'll meet at the Piazzetta Reale at the main entrance of Turin's Royal palace. Let's kick off our tour!
Don't be fooled by its facade, the austerity and simplicity of the exterior has nothing to do with what you'll find inside once you go through the palace doors. Be ready to uncover its long history and see why it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Royal Palace of Turin was the main residence of the Saboya House, which converted Turin into the first capital of modern Italy. As you wander through the different halls, you'll learn more about the great power the family had.
One of the gems inside this palace is the remarkable armoury, the second most important in all of Europe. The guide will show us the most intriguing items in the hall and recount the history surrounding these important objects. We'll walk through different points around the Baroque-style palace such as the main hall, covered in gold and precious gemstones, as well as the chandelier lounge.
We'll also check out the Chapel of the Holy Shroud, which was built to preserve the Shroud of Turin, although it is no longer housed there due to a great fire that threatened to destroy it.
The tour will finish at 3 pm in front of the Royal Palace of Turin.
