Tunja Museums Tour
Delve into Boyaca
At the scheduled time, you'll be picked up from your hotel in Tunja to begin your visit to Boyaca's museums.
Your tour will begin by discovering Colombian biodiversity at the Luis Gonzalo Andrade National History Museum. Just next door to this centre dedicated to endemic fauna is the herbarium belonging to the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia. There you'll see the different variety of mosses, lichens, and other botanical species that are used by the PTUC in their investigations.
Next, you'll visit the PTUC Museum of Medicine and Health. After learning how care of the body and mind has evolved over the years, you'll be brought to the PTUC Museum of Archeology. This exhibition boasts an impressive pre-Hispanic collection of items from the Herrera and Muisca cultures.
Continuing on, you'll be treated to a small traditional lunch break at one of the city's many amazing restaurants. The menu will consist of a starter, a Bocayanese-inspired main course and a drink. After the meal, you'll head towards the Gustavo Rojas Pillas Cultural Museum, where you'll learn all about the history of this ex-Colombian president.
The following stop will take place in the Gonzalo Suarez Rendon House-Museum, where you'll see the old house of the founder of Tunja. After, you'll be brought to the Museum-House of the writer Don Juan de Vargas, where you'll continue to learn of the colonial history surrounding the town of Boyaca.
The tour will conclude 5 hours later upon returning to your hotel in Tunja.
